The work reports on the synthesis of an archetypal metal organic framework (MOF-5) microcrystals with a narrow size distribution using SiO2 nanoparticles with tailored surface chemistry as nucleating agents. The nanoparticles boost the reaction rate by up to an order of magnitude compared to the conventional MOF-5 solvothermal synthesis and can be successfully used as nucleation seeds for the selective growth of MOF-5 on specific substrates. These results are important fundamental advances toward the controlled scale-up of MOF synthesis and directed MOF growth on suitable supports.

In this study, highly luminescent CdTe/ZnS core/shell QDs were synthesized and were encapsulated within the Pluronic F127 micelle nanoparticles for and bioimaging applications. More specifically, Pluronic F127 micelles were used to enable stable dispersion of QDs in biological fluids, generating a hydrophilic shell with PEG molecules on its surface. In addition, the carboxyl groups are terminated on their surface for bioconjugation purpose. For studies, these encapsulated QDs were conjugated with FA and used as luminescent probes for cancer cell imaging studies. The tumor targeting and imaging study of FA conjugated micelle-encapsulated QDs was evaluated by using whole-body small animal optical imaging system. Our studies have shown high reproducibility in tumor targeting of the bioconjugated micelle-encapsulated QDs , following systemic administration. The formulation demonstrated low toxicity to the treated mice. This information provides an important platform in creating the next generation of multifunctional probes for targeted cancer imaging.

A correct, general, and efficient procedure for synthesizing error-recoverable protocols for noisy channels is described. The state explosion problem has been tackled by synthesizing the error-recoverable protocol from its noiseless local entity model using certain rules. This reduction arises from the approaches of local modeling and elaboration. It is expected that these two approaches will also play a major role in tackling the complexity problems in designing multiparty protocols. Similarly, performance evaluation for error-recoverable protocols can be synthesized from that for the corresponding noiseless protocol using a probability factor relevant to the successful receipt of a message. However, the resulting two error-recoverable entities are tightly coupled, degrading the performance. The communication speed can be improved by using the pipeline technique and creating a more complicated state diagram for collided messages. The procedure can also be applied to every layer of communication protocols.
