Formation of 2-chloro-2-methylbutane from 2-methyl-2-butanol:

2-Chloro-2-methylbutane is used as a solvent for the synthesis of other compounds and pentane. It is used in organic synthesis, Catalytic agent, Petrochemical additive.

For preparation of 2-chloro-2-methylbutane:

Synthesis Of 2 Chloro 2 Methylbutane Lab ..

what are the product(s) of this organic chemistry synthesis?
2-chloro-2-methylbutane with CH3OH and heat produces?

i think this is both Sn1 and E1, so you get two products: 2-methyl-2-butanol and 2-methyl-2-butene. is this right? is one major and the other minor? which one is which? please help...thanks!
Additional Details
actually, since CH3OH dissociates into CH3O- and H+, wouldnt you get Sn1 where the CH3O- attaches to where the chlorine was instead of getting an OH there?

The same reasoning applies to the yield of the product of 2-chloro-2-methylbutane.
