Even with these updated figures, annual photosynthesis is still nearly 100 times greater than world energy use. And solar energy input to earth is nearly 10,000 times greater. This will require much greater attention devoted to the kinds of resources we use and the means by which they are obtained, and perhaps more importantly, to the management of residues of all types.
