Counselling in London Bridge, London | Hotfrog UK

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist with an extensive knowledge of working with adults undergoing stress, trauma and crises.

I work within minutes of London Bridge Station and the City of London.

I specialise in working with deep trauma and am skilled at tolerating difficult states, such as profound despair, that, for example, intense self hatred can lead us to. When we lose our own value and meaning in life we can spiral into a black hole. Having a skilled ‘other' with us in those times, that knows such landscape well, can make a world of difference.

That said, there is no problem that is too small, as everything is relative. Many people feel their suffering is not deserving enough of counselling. This is one of the greatest myths of all.

I hold a BSc Degree in Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling (PGDip), and a Masters Dissertation in Psychotherapy (MA), the latter two being validated by the University of East London and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherpay (BACP).

I trained at the Psychosynthesis & Education Trust and am a member of the BACP (MBACP), and accredited with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). The latter two professional bodies employ a strict code of ethics to ensure the highest standards of practice.

My psychosynthesis training was integrative (drawing from all schools of psychology) and I have a tendency toward depth oriented psychotherapy.

In addition to my private practice I am also Clinical Director of a counselling placement service.

I also periodically assist in training at the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust which runs high quality training programmes for counsellors and psychotherapists.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is based on the belief that events do not cause us to feel anxious or depressed, rather it is our interpretation about those events that determine our emotional reaction. Exploring our core beliefs and the rules for living we abide by can help us clarify the unhelpful thinking patterns we have developed, reframe the situation, and adopt healthier ways of thinking and behaving.

Person-Centred Therapy (PCT). PCT is a humanistic approach based on the premise that each one of us has the internal resources to fulfill our potential for growth as long as the right conditions are in place. The aim of PCT is to provide three core conditions – empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence – to help you develop a stronger and healthier sense of self and move towards self-actualisation.

Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytical Therapies. These insight-oriented therapies concentrate on the unconscious and its manifestation on current behaviours and thoughts. The focus is on understanding the influence of the past on the present, and on developing self-awareness.

Integrative Therapy. The integrative approach takes into account many views of human functioning and incorporates different elements of specific therapies to suit your style and the difficulties you experience. The aim is to facilitate self-understanding and wholeness.

The most important aspect of counselling and psychotherapy is the professional relationship between therapist and client. A climate of trust, mutuality, safety and support is essential to positive outcome.

I have been practicing counselling and psychotherapy in South West London for over eight years and have helped clients who have experienced difficulties with:
