Flavonoids are widely distributed in higher plants and synthesized via the phenylpropanoid pathway. They play important roles in oxidative stress, UV filtration, symbiotic nitrogen fixation and floral pigmentation. For human beings, flavonoids have a broad range of biological and pharmacological activities. With the increase in living standards, people are becoming more and more interested in healthy food. Flavonoid components and their biosynthetic pathways differ in different plant species. Thus, it is a big challenge to identify specialized flavonoid components and elucidate their biosynthetic pathways. In addition, regulatory mechanisms underlying flavonoid biosynthesis are also important for improving plant productivity and food quality. The world leading scientists in this field will be invited to present their state-of-the-art advances in the study of flavonoid biosynthesis and regulatory mechanisms.
