In 1999 Thomas Carroll moved to Waterford City and established a traditional hand bookbinding business. Coming from a long family history in the print trade, he studied Bookbinding and Applied Print Science at Dublin Institute of Technology, Bolton Street in conjunction with a five-year apprenticeship.
Thirty years later and with plenty of experience, Tom is recognized as a traditional bookbinder using equipment and techniques from past centuries. The main priority of Tom's business is to produce quality bindings regardless if they are trade bindings, theses or fine leather bindings. He views the preservation of books as a living history as well as archival material.
His keen interest, attention to detail and artistic flair are evident in his work.
